Arthritis Pain Relief in Fort Myers with SoftWave
Your knees are stiff for the first hour of the day. Opening a jar takes two tries. Getting out of a low chair at a restaurant on First Street is a project. If arthritis is shrinking your days, this page is about arthritis pain relief in Fort Myers, told straight.
Let's be clear up front: SoftWave does not rebuild cartilage. Nothing we offer does. What it may do is calm the sore tissue around the joint. We think that is worth trying before you settle for pills every day. Start with a $49 mapping session.

What is arthritis, in plain words?
Arthritis means a joint is sore and swollen. Most people just call it joint pain. The most common kind, osteoarthritis, is wear and tear. The smooth padding on the ends of your bones (cartilage) gets thin. Bones rub. The joint gets stiff and sore.
But much of the pain does not come from the bone. It comes from the tendons, ligaments and muscles around the joint that work overtime to protect it. That tissue is where SoftWave aims.
Rheumatoid arthritis is different. It is caused by the immune system. If you have it, your rheumatologist should lead your care.
Can SoftWave help arthritis pain?
Arthritis is on the list of conditions our clinic treats with SoftWave. The device sends gentle sound waves into the tissue. Your body reads those waves as a signal to repair.
SoftWave devices have FDA 510(k) clearance for some uses, such as improving blood supply and activating connective tissue. Patients often report less stiffness and easier movement after a full plan. Some notice little change. We will not promise a result.
The best research is on knees. A 2020 review in the journal International Orthopaedics pooled 9 studies with 705 patients who had knee arthritis. People who got shockwave therapy had less pain two weeks after treatment and again at six months than people in the comparison groups. The studies were small and used different machines and doses, so we read that as a good sign, not proof. You can read a summary of the review.
What SoftWave will not do: regrow cartilage, reverse arthritis or make an X-ray look younger. If your joint is bone on bone, we will tell you, and we may send you to an orthopedic doctor.
Which joints do you treat for joint pain?
We treat arthritis pain in any joint.
Picture a retired teacher in McGregor who gardens every morning before the heat. Her right knee and both thumbs ache. She takes pain pills most days and hates it. She does not want a knee replacement this year. She wants to keep her roses. That is a person we would love to map.

What does a session feel like?
- Mapping. We move the wand around the joint to find the spots that react.
- Treatment. Gel goes on your skin. The wand taps over the sore areas. Most people feel a light thump. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes.
- Back to your day. No needles, no downtime. You can drive home.
Sessions are run by Matthew Mahoney, and Dr. Lee Angle, D.C. (Doctor of Chiropractic), oversees care at Upper Cervical Health Centers.

Our usual plan is 6 to 8 sessions over about 6 to 8 weeks. Arthritic joints often need more than a simple tendon problem.
