Neuropathy Treatment in Fort Myers: Can SoftWave Help Your Feet?
If you are looking for neuropathy treatment in Fort Myers, you have likely tried a lot already. Pills. Creams. Special socks. Maybe your feet still burn at night.
Here is our honest view. SoftWave may help some people with nerve pain in the feet. It does not help everyone, and results vary more than they do with tendon pain. We would rather tell you that now than after you pay for a plan.

What is neuropathy?
Neuropathy means nerves are hurt. Most often it hits the feet first, then sometimes the hands.
People describe it in different ways:
- Burning, like your feet are on hot sand at Bowditch Point in July
- Pins and needles that will not quit
- Numb toes, so you trip on the edge of a rug
- Pain that gets worse when you lie down at night
Diabetes is a common cause. There are others, like some cancer drugs, low vitamin levels and heavy drinking. Some people never learn the cause. Your medical doctor should look for the reason first. That matters more than anything we do.
How might SoftWave help neuropathy?
SoftWave sends sound waves into tissue. SoftWave devices have FDA 510(k) clearance for certain uses, such as improving blood supply and activating connective tissue (the tough bands that hold things together).
Nerves need good blood flow. So the idea is simple: more blood flow near the nerves may help the area feel better. Some patients tell us the burning eases or they sleep better. Others feel little change.
We will not quote you a success rate.
Our position: if you have tried the usual steps and your feet still keep you up, SoftWave is worth a careful look. If your neuropathy is new and no one knows the cause yet, see your medical doctor first. Do that before you spend a dollar with us.
Who is a good fit for neuropathy treatment with SoftWave?
Often a fit
You have a diagnosis. Your doctor is managing the cause. Your feet still burn, tingle or ache, and you want to try something without needles or new pills.
Probably not yet
Your symptoms just started, you have an open sore on your foot, or you have not seen a doctor about it. Get checked first. Sores on numb feet can turn serious fast.
Picture a retired teacher in Whiskey Creek. She takes her medicine and checks her sugar. But she has given up her morning walk at Lakes Park because her feet sting by the second loop. She is the kind of person who asks us about SoftWave. Our first answer to her is always the same: let us map it and see.

What does a SoftWave visit for neuropathy feel like?
- Mapping. Matthew Mahoney moves the wand over your feet and lower legs to find spots that react.
- Treatment. Gel goes on the skin. The wand taps over the area for about 10 to 15 minutes. Most people feel light thumps. Very numb feet may feel less.
- Home. You put your shoes back on and drive home. Aftercare: Nothing special. You can drive home or go back to work right after.

How many visits and what does it cost?
For most problems, our usual plan is 6 to 8 sessions over about 6 to 8 weeks. Neuropathy may be different. Results with neuropathy are mixed. The mapping session shows whether it is a good fit for you. If it is, most people need 6 to 8 sessions, once a week. If the problem is very acute, visits may be closer together. Your mapping is where we set the plan for your case.
The first step costs $49. That is the mapping session. You find out if we think SoftWave makes sense for you before you commit to anything else.

Paying: You can pay with your HSA card. Read more on paying with an HSA.

Common questions
Can SoftWave cure neuropathy?
No. We do not say SoftWave cures neuropathy. Some patients report less burning or tingling, and some do not notice a change. The mapping session helps us tell you if it is worth trying.
Should I stop my diabetes or nerve medicine?
No. Keep taking what your medical doctor prescribed. SoftWave is something to add, not a swap. Talk to your doctor before you change any medicine.
