What Happens at a SoftWave Mapping Session in Fort Myers

A SoftWave mapping session is your first visit. It costs $49. We find where your pain is coming from, and we tell you straight if SoftWave is worth your money.

Here is our view: nobody should pay for a full plan before a mapping. If a clinic skips this step, ask why.

What is a SoftWave mapping session?

Mapping means using the SoftWave wand to search for the sore spots under your skin. The wand sends out sound waves. When a wave hits a spot that is hurt or stuck, you feel it more. That tells us where the trouble is.

Pain is sneaky. A heel can hurt because of a tight calf. A sore shoulder can come from the neck. The mapping lets us look past the spot you point to.

What happens at the $49 SoftWave visit, step by step?

  1. Check in. You fill out a short form about your pain: where it is, how long you have had it, and what makes it worse.
  2. Talk. We ask what you want back. Walking the Caloosahatchee bridges? Sleeping on your left side? A full round of golf? Your answer shapes the plan.
  3. Get ready. You lie or sit so the sore area is easy to reach. A little gel goes on your skin. It feels cool.
  4. Mapping. Matthew Mahoney, our SoftWave technician, moves the wand slowly over the area. You tell him when a spot feels sharper or different. Some spots you did not know about may speak up.
  5. What we found. We show you where the hot spots are and explain what we think is going on, in plain words.
  6. Yes or no. We tell you if we think SoftWave may help. If yes, we explain a plan. If no, we say so and suggest a next step.

Plan on about 30 minutes for the whole visit. Later visits take about 20 minutes, with about 10 to 15 minutes of treatment.

Does a SoftWave mapping hurt?

Most people feel a light tap or thump. On a really sore spot it can sting for a second. That sting is useful. It shows us where to aim.

If it is too much, say so. The strength can be turned down. No needles, no numbing shots.

Who should book a mapping session?

People who have had pain for weeks or months and are tired of waiting it out. The clinic sees knee, shoulder, back and elbow pain, plantar fasciitis (heel pain), tendonitis (sore tendons, the cords that tie muscle to bone), arthritis, carpal tunnel and neuropathy (nerve pain or numbness).

Think of a nurse at HealthPark who is on her feet for 12-hour shifts and limps to her car every night. Or a snowbird in Whiskey Creek whose knee aches on every step. The mapping gives both of them an answer before they spend more.

SoftWave is not for everyone. If you have pregnancy, cancer, or a pacemaker, tell us before the visit.

What happens after the mapping?

If SoftWave looks like a fit, our usual plan is 6 to 8 sessions over about 6 to 8 weeks. Some people need fewer. Some need more. We base it on what the mapping shows.

Full plan price: $100 per session, or 6 sessions for $540 (that is $90 a session).. Paying: You can pay with your HSA card. Read more on paying with an HSA.. See our SoftWave therapy cost page for more on paying.

No one will push you to sign up that day. Go home. Think it over. Call when you are ready.

Who will I see at the mapping?

Matthew Mahoney runs the SoftWave wand. Dr. Lee Angle, D.C. (Doctor of Chiropractic), leads the clinic. He tried SoftWave on his own shoulder before he offered it to anyone else.

Dr. Angle has a 5.0 rating from 198 Google reviews. Those reviews cover all his care, not only SoftWave.
