Back pain help on McGregor Blvd, Fort Myers

Back Pain Treatment in Fort Myers: Chiropractic Care and SoftWave

You bend to grab the paper and your low back grabs you first. You shift in the car seat all the way down Summerlin. You stand at the counter because sitting hurts. If that is your week, this page is about back pain treatment in Fort Myers.

We are a chiropractic office. Dr. Lee Angle is a chiropractor in Fort Myers, and we also offer SoftWave in the same building. Our view: most stubborn back pain should get a hands-on check before anyone reaches for pills or a needle. Start with a $49 mapping session.

What causes back pain that keeps coming back?

Most back pain is not one big injury. It builds up. Common causes we see:

  • Tight, sore muscles from sitting, lifting or sleeping wrong
  • Strained ligaments (the tough bands that hold bones together)
  • Arthritis in the small joints of the spine
  • Old injuries from a car crash or a fall

Some signs mean you should see a medical doctor or go to the ER, not a chiropractor: loss of bladder or bowel control, numbness in the groin, new leg weakness, or back pain with fever. Please take those seriously.

Why go to a chiropractic office for SoftWave?

Dr. Lee Angle, D.C. (Doctor of Chiropractic), runs Upper Cervical Health Centers. He tried SoftWave on his own shoulder before he offered it to anyone. That is why it is here.

Being a chiropractic office means we look at how your spine moves, not just where it hurts. Your mapping session helps us decide if SoftWave, chiropractic care, both or neither makes sense for you. We will not tell you that either one will fix your back. We will tell you what we find.

You can choose chiropractic care, SoftWave, or both. Dr. Angle will talk it through with you at your mapping.

How does SoftWave help back pain?

SoftWave sends gentle sound waves into the muscles and tissue around your spine. Your body reads those waves as a signal to repair.

SoftWave devices have FDA 510(k) clearance for some uses, such as improving blood supply and activating connective tissue. Back pain is on the list of problems our clinic treats with it. Patients often report less stiffness after a full plan. Some feel no change. We will not promise a result.

Who is a good fit?

You may be a good fit if your back has hurt on and off for months, rest and stretching help for a day and then it is back, and you want to try something that is not a pill.

Picture a man in his 50s who works at a desk off Colonial Blvd and spends weekends on his boat at the marina. Every Monday his low back is stiff. Every Friday he swears he will fix it. That is who we built this for.

What does a SoftWave back session feel like?

  1. Mapping. We move the wand along your back to find the spots that react.
  2. Treatment. Gel goes on your skin. The wand taps over the sore areas. Most people feel a light thump. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes.
  3. Back to your day. You can drive home or go to work.

Wear a loose shirt. Sessions are run by Matthew Mahoney.

How many sessions and what does it cost?

Our usual plan is 6 to 8 sessions over about 6 to 8 weeks.

Most people need 6 to 8 sessions, once a week. If the problem is very acute, visits may be closer together. Your mapping is where we set the plan for your case.

Your first step is a $49 mapping session. If SoftWave is not right for your back, you are out $49, not thousands.

Full plan price: $100 per session, or 6 sessions for $540 (that is $90 a session).

Paying: You can pay with your HSA card. Read more on paying with an HSA.

See our SoftWave cost page and what happens at a mapping session.

What does the research say about shockwave for back pain?

Yue and colleagues pooled 10 trials with 455 people who had long-term low back pain (BioMed Research International, 2021). People who got shockwave had less pain and less trouble with daily tasks at 1 to 3 months than people in the comparison groups. No serious side effects were reported.

Those trials used other shockwave machines, and the benefit was measured over the short term. That is one reason we start with a mapping session instead of selling a plan.

Study results are averages from groups of people. They are not a promise of what will happen for you. Your mapping session shows whether SoftWave fits your case.

Common questions

Is this a chiropractic office?

Yes. Dr. Lee Angle, D.C. (Doctor of Chiropractic), runs Upper Cervical Health Centers. SoftWave is offered in the same office.

Do I have to get adjusted to get SoftWave?

No. You can book SoftWave on its own, without chiropractic care.

Does SoftWave on the back hurt?

Most people feel tapping or light pressure. Your technician can turn the strength down over tender spots.

Can SoftWave fix a herniated disc?

We will not claim that. SoftWave works on the soft tissue around the spine. Disc problems with numbness or weakness need a medical exam first.

How many sessions does back pain take?

Our usual plan is 6 to 8 sessions over about 6 to 8 weeks. We will give you our view after your mapping.
