Hip pain help on McGregor Blvd, Fort Myers
Hip Pain Treatment in Fort Myers with SoftWave
You roll onto your side at 2 a.m. and the ache wakes you up. You swing your legs out of the car one at a time. You stop halfway through your walk along the river. If that sounds like you, this page is about hip pain treatment in Fort Myers that starts with a short visit, not a surgery date.
Our view: a sore hip that has lasted months deserves a real look at the soft tissue (the muscles, tendons and bands around the joint) before anyone talks about a new hip. Start with a $49 mapping session.

Jeff's hip story · 41 sec
What did Jeff say about SoftWave for his hip?
Jeff had a hip replacement in August. He came to us with a big scar on his left side and a leg that still felt weak.
In his words: "I started within like a week or two after starting working with her, feeling more relief in that leg. I got strength in that leg."
He also said: "Come in for a consultation, get mapped, check it out for yourself."
That is one patient's story, not a promise. Your hip is not Jeff's hip.
Why does my hip hurt?
Hip pain has many causes. The ones we hear about most are:
- Bursitis, a swollen fluid pad on the outside of the hip that makes lying on that side hurt
- Tendonitis, a sore tendon (the cord that ties muscle to bone) where the glute muscles attach
- Arthritis, where the smooth lining inside the joint wears thin
- Stiff, slow healing after a hip surgery
- Strain from a fall, a long drive or too much yard work
Pain in the groin, pain that shoots down the leg, or a hip that will not hold your weight needs an exam by a medical doctor. Some of that pain starts in the lower back. Our back pain treatment page explains how we look at that.
How does SoftWave help hip pain?
SoftWave sends gentle sound waves into the tissue around your hip. Your body reads those waves as a signal to repair.
SoftWave devices have FDA 510(k) clearance for some uses, such as improving blood supply and activating connective tissue. Tendons and the bands around the hip get little blood, so they heal slowly. SoftWave may help by bringing more blood to the area. Patients often report that walking and sleeping feel easier after a full plan. We will not promise a result.
What it will not do: rebuild worn cartilage. If your X-ray shows bone on bone, we will be honest about that. Read more on our arthritis pain relief page.
Who is a good fit for SoftWave hip treatment?
You may be a good fit if your hip has hurt for months, rest and stretching have not fixed it, and you would like to try something before a shot or surgery.
Picture a woman in her 70s in Gateway who used to walk the loop every morning. Now the outside of her right hip aches by the second mile, and she cannot sleep on that side. She has tried ice and a new mattress. That is the kind of hip we want to map.

What does a SoftWave hip session feel like?
- Mapping. We move the wand around your hip to find the spots that react. This tells us where to treat.
- Treatment. Gel goes on your skin. The wand taps over the sore areas. Most people feel a light thump. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes.
- Back to your day. You can drive home or go to work.
Wear loose shorts or pants you can roll up. Sessions are run by Matthew Mahoney, and Dr. Lee Angle, D.C. (Doctor of Chiropractic), oversees care at Upper Cervical Health Centers.
How many sessions and what does it cost?
Our usual plan is 6 to 8 sessions over about 6 to 8 weeks.
Most people need 6 to 8 sessions, once a week. If the problem is very acute, visits may be closer together. Your mapping is where we set the plan for your case.
Your first step is a $49 mapping session. We find the sore spots and tell you if SoftWave makes sense for your hip. If it doesn't, you are out $49, not thousands.
Full plan price: $100 per session, or 6 sessions for $540 (that is $90 a session).

Common questions
Can SoftWave help after a hip replacement?
Our patient Jeff came to us after his hip replacement and tells his story in the video on this page. That is one person's experience. Ask your surgeon before you start, and we will talk it over at your mapping.
Does SoftWave on the hip hurt?
Most people feel tapping or light pressure. The outside of the hip can be tender, so your technician can turn the strength down.
Can SoftWave fix hip arthritis?
No. SoftWave does not rebuild cartilage. It may help the sore tissue around the joint. If your hip is worn down to bone, we will tell you.
How many sessions will my hip need?
Our usual plan is 6 to 8 sessions over about 6 to 8 weeks. We will give you our view after your mapping.
Can I use my HSA?
Yes. You can pay with your HSA card. Check with your HSA provider about your own account.
